1discussion 3.1Imogene King’s theory is the Theory of Goal Attachment. To me, she is a “goal-getter!”Her theory is about the interactions, patterns, and goals that the nurses and the patient create andachieve. Together, the nurse and patient communicate to set the goal, determine how to achievethe goal, and then agree on the best plan. The King article I picked to read was-Enhancingtelehealth education in nursing: Applying King’s conceptual framework and theory of goalattainment. This article’s goal was to see how a nursing school uses telehealth resources whileapplying King’s theory. The researchers applied King’s theory by focusing on perceptions, communications, interactions, and transactions between nurses and clients as part of the processof mutual goal setting to achieve a state of health (Fronczek et al., 2017, p. 209). The conclusionof the study resulted that technology should not replace nurse-patient relations. I think King fitsinto the interaction-oriented theory. Interaction-oriented nurses rely more on counseling, guiding, and teaching- helping clients find meaning in their situations- and less on doing and functioning(Meleis, 2018, p. 168).Margaret Newman’s theory is The Health as Expanding Consciousness.
