If I move this configuration into the stand-alone deployment plan (with <configuration> document root), it works. Deployment exception for Local interface class not found error does not show name of local interface class in log I am trying to deploy an EAR file exported from WSAD 5.1. When I deploy I get an error message "org.apache.geronimo.common.DeploymentException: Local interface class not found: " followed by a stack trace (see end of this note). I don't know what is causing this error, but the error message itself doesn't display the name of the local interface class that isn't being found. Looking at the signature of the method that is throwing the the exception public static void assureInterface(String interfaceName, String superInterfaceName, String interfaceType, ClassLoader cl) throws DeploymentException it would appear that the interface name, for whatever reason, is being passed in as blank, which indicates a problem further up the stack.
