OUR TOOL KIT (For Pondering Prehistoric R.A.T.) RELIGION IS: A human tool/technology or cultural “machine” for finding/imagining/creating meaning and feeling in the face of the temporality of life (death, entropy) or the problematic of human experience (ignorance, bleeding, morality); the meaning/feeling found is the conviction in a “sacred”/”spiritual”/aesthetic dimension to life (most often imagined as gods, spirits or spiritual power) and the conviction that reality/experience manifests both an outer and an inner structure or “world” (cosmology); religion therefore is in the business of world/s creation and gives us the means for entering those worlds Religion does it work via the ART or systematic TECHNIQUE of imaginatively expressing the reality of these worlds and making them real This most often involves three inter-related expressive/artistic methods/modes: 1. Cognitive/Theoretical – the mode of MYTH and story
