IPSP’s 2. Receptors 3. Cl- channels Integration and Inhibition and Excitation Neurontransmitters and Main Receptors Ligand Gated Channels open when 2 molecules of transmitter bind Voltage gated Ca+ channel with synaptic membrane. Ligand gated Ion Channels with glutamate receptor (Glutamate as the neurotransmitter) About a 0.5mv potential- Releases neurotransmitters (glutamate), potential gets smaller Decision-> to fire an action potential with voltage gated channels Exceed -55mv will fire action potential, threshold Sufficient excitement 15mv Summation: Many mv’s together to reach threshold; the adding together of small potentials to create larger potential Each potential (EPSP) produced by opening Ligand gated channels Amplitude of potential is proportional to the # of opened ligand channels
