The Absolutely True Diary of a Student Teacher By Jane Smith Do you want to know what time my day starts? Here’s what my alarm clock looks like when I get up every morning: 5:45 Angry little numbers, you know? Not really what you want to see when you wake up in the morning, but there you have it. Five-forty-five in the A.M. That’s what time I get up in order to get to school on time. I live over an hour away from Cambridge by train. You’re probably thinking to yourself right now: I’m reading the diary of a crazy person. Why on earth would ANYONE want to get up before the sun even rises every single morning? Well, you see, it all started when I was a little girl. I liked to teach my younger brother the basics of math… well, until he got better at math than I did: That’s when I decided to teach English. Somehow teaching about reading, writing, and critical thinking seemed like more fun than calculus anyway.
