Business 101 Study guide 360-degree review : is employee development feedback that comes from all around the employee. 401k : a savings plan that allows you to deposit pretax dollars whose earnings compound tax free until withdrawal, when money is taxed at ordinary income tax rates. Abraham Maslow : came up with idea that people are motivated to satisfy unmet needs. He also came up with hierarchy of needs. Physiological needs first then social needs then esteem needs and then self-actualization needs. Accountant duties : expected to have a broad knowledge of the doctrines, theories, and principles of the accounting profession, and to be able to apply these to all types of financial transactions. Accounting : the recording, classifying, summarizing, and interpreting of financial events and transactions to provide management and other interested parties the information they need to make good decisions. Advertising expenditures : the amount spent by an organization on advertising, usually per year. Affirmative action: employment activities designed to “right past wrongs” by increasing opportunities for minorities and women. Annual report : a yearly statement of the financial condition, progress, and expectations of an organization. *Benefit segmentation : dividing the market by determining which benefits of the product to talk about. Bank keeping : the recording of business transactions. Brand : a name, symbol, or design that identifies the goods or services of one seller or group of sellers and distinguishes them from the goods and services of competitors. Brand loyalty : the degree to which customers are satisfied, like the brand, and are committed to further purchase. Brand name : a word, letter, or group of words that differentiates one seller’s goods and services from the competitors *Break -even analysis: the process used to determine profitability at various levels of sales. Broker : to act as an agent in arranging a deal, sale, or contract Cafeteria -style benefit plan: allow employees to choose the benefits they want to a certain dollar amount. *Cashless bonus: Category killer store : offer wide selection at competitive prices. They are so competitive that they usually over-power smaller competitors that don’t offer comparable selection/price and drive them out of business. Ex Walmart! Certified public accountant : an accountant who passes a series of examinations established by the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants. Channel of distribution : a whole set of marketing intermediates, such as wholesalers and retailers that join together to transport and store goods in their path (or channel) from producers to consumers.
