Most cases of C. diff occur when you’ve been taking antibiotics.However, there are other risk factors such as; being 65 or older, recent hospitalizations,weakened immune system, and previous infection with C. diff or known exposure to the germs.Symptoms of C. diff usually develop within a few days after taking antibiotics. Diarrheaincluding loose, watery stools or frequent bowel movements for several days, fever, stomachtenderness or pain, loss of appetite and nausea are the most common signs and symptoms of a C.diff infection (Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, 2018).
