Holocaust April 1 st , 2008 Notes Check blackboard for lectures Nazi documents surviving are historical evidence that the Holocaust did in fact exist. Resistance Movement – Guns were gotten from the underground movement. Jews were able to use weapons out of everyday materials. Milk Cans – In one camp Jews dug a hole with a milk can, within the milk can they hid documents in order to make sure that information got out. They also hid some food. Milk cans used to prove cases at the Nuremburg Trials. Mordechai Aneilewisz – Warsaw ghetto resistance. During WWII approx 25,000 Jews fought as partisans in resistance groups. Organized armed resistance most direct form of opposition. Other forms included aid, rescue, and spiritual resistance. Partisan fighters used hit and run” guerilla tactics. Armed Resistance in five major ghettos, 45 smaller ghettos and five major concentration camps as well as 18 forced labor camps. Spiritual Resistance in ghettos, especially by Jehovah’s Witness groups. Targeted for annihilation because of their resistance to the Holocaust. Tenet of faith is Pacifism. Did
