Monty San Juan Natalie Laterri Jewish-Christian Relation May 1, 2020 Lecture Review For this extra credit assignment I watched “Judaisms: A 21st Century Introduction to Jews and Jewish Identities” with Dr. Aaron J. Hahn Tapper. This lecture begins by giving a few reasons for why the book was written such as approaching the Jewish people as a social identity and that Judaism doesn’t exist outside of people, then speaks about a few excerpts from the book, and ends with a question and answer for a discussion with the audience. From this presentation I learned a few things whether it was something I knew and gained more knowledge, or just something I just learned that I have never known before. One being that this group of Ehtiopian Jews, lived in a Christian dominant country, so they would have crosses on their faces to portray on the outside that they are Christian so that they don’t get executed for being a Jew but on the inside they are actually Jewish.
