Chapter 4 – For Discussion Questions: Do you believe Justice Department lawyers should face consequences if found to have authorized torture? No, I do not believe that Justice Department lawyers should face consequences. Why might President Obama reason that their behavior is more actionable that that of the interrogators themselves? Their behaviors are more actionable because Interrogators were following by precedent set forth by these lawyers. What defense might those lawyers offer? The methods that were used in obtaining information from Zubaydah were beneficial to preventing future attacks and potentially saving the lives of many innocent people. Is there ever, in your opinion, an argument for torture? Yes, during war time because these are times when being “politically correct” aren’t possible and extreme measure need to be taken to ensure our safety. Are harsh methods of interrogation ever justifiable in curbing imminent danger? Yes and the case of Zubaydah was proof of that.

The ability to access any university’s resources through Course Hero proved invaluable in my case. I was behind on Tulane coursework and actually used UCLA’s materials to help me move forward and get everything together on time.
