This past week's reading is on Interest Groups (Chapter 8). Do you think that lobbyist exercise too much influence in our government? If so why? If not, why not? Yes. Lobbyists are given large amounts of money by groups and organizations to promote their agenda. Government officials should not be influenced by the hired lobbyist since the lobbyists are getting paid by a group/organization to forward their agenda. Government officials should be voting based on the beliefs and needs of the majority of the people they represent not because an organization has a lot of money to throw at them. But, as long as there are large sums of money and power to be gained, lobbyist will not be going anywhere. Our government officials will not give up that type of easy cash when all they have to do is cast a simple vote....
