John Piazzi COM 114 Outline General Purpose: To persuade Specific Purpose: To persuade my audience to become an organ donor. Thesis Statement: In my speech, I will talk about what organ donation is, why it is important, and how you can help. Persuasive Technique: Monroe’s Motivated Sequence Introduction: I. Attention Getter: 92,000 people are waiting, and the number is growing rapidly. They range from newborns to the elderly 65 years of age and older. If they are not helped soon, they will die. Some you know may have helped these people already, and others may be helping them already. The rest of you can make an impact on the lives of these people by becoming an organ donor. II. Credibility Statement: I have thoroughly researched Organ Donation, and am an Organ Donor myself. I know of multiple people who have donated organs after death, and of many who have received organ donations, including a family friend who received a heart transplant. III. Relating to the Audience: One day, you or one of your loved ones may be one of those waiting for an organ donation. IV. Thesis: In my speech, I will talk about the need for Organ Donation what you can do to help, and what the benefits are of you helping.
