John Piazzi COM 114 Section 2301 Trails of West Lafayette Specific Purpose: To inform my audience about the biking and jogging trails offered by the West Lafayette Park District. Thesis Statement: The West Lafayette biking and jogging trails are free and convenient to the public, especially the students of Purdue University. INTRODUCTION: I. Attention Getter: How many people had made plans before they left for college to maintain a weekly workout schedule? Out of those people, how many have really stuck to their plans? II. Credibility Statement: A recent study by the Personal Growth and Counseling Center showed that, “freshmen gain about 5 pounds in the first 12 weeks of college.” III. Relevance Statement: As college freshmen, we must stay active to keep our bodies healthy. IV. Thesis Statement: The West Lafayette trails offer safe biking and jogging trails, free and convenient to both the public and students of Purdue University. Directional transition : These trails cover a vast area on and off Purdue’s campus. I.
