PRIVATELY FUNDED normally, Custom Builders, Small volume builders (>25), Production builders(<25)Wood, low tech, day to day contact with owner, Commerercial Building - services buildings, people work there, no people living in building, Funding can be both private and public, Higher building cost and longer time to build. Metal used for framing, Brick, High tech, little to no contact with owner, Fundamentals to building - Exterior/Interior finishes, Foundations, Framing, Green Building, Insulation, Mechanical, Doing Business, Construction Players - Owner, Designers, Contractor, Subcontractors, Other, Owner- Private/Public, Designers- responsible for project design, Architect, Engineer, landscape Architect, Interior Designer. Architectural Engineer does the work of engineers and the architect, Contractors- Hired by owner either a Prime contractor or a General Contractor. Sub-contractor- They take care of all the trades such as electrical, heating, plumbing, and Drywall. Project Manuel and Contract documents : They make up all the plans and specs for the whole job. It is a contractor BILBE for the job. Heavy Construction- Roads, Bridges, tunnels, dams, airports. Civil Engineers manage and design these items. High dollar and very complex. Materials- Asphalt, Concrete, Gravel, Dirt, Steel. Few trades’ used, heavy equipment needed high dollar. (Public Projects) Industrial Construction: Production occurs inside (GM, Mobil, US Steel) Very similar to commercial. Foreign language is a plus in the construction world.
