WEEK 8 DECISION TREE2Week 8 Decision TreeThe purpose of this paper is to read, assess, and analyze a patient presenting with a neurocognitive disorder. This patient presents as a first initial visit. His presentation and reported history, according to his son, suggest the diagnosis of major neurocognitive disorder with lewy bodies. An appropriate treatment plan must be created based on the diagnoses provided. Decision #1Which Decision did you select? The decision that I selected was to diagnose Mr. Wingate with major neurocognitive disorder with lewy bodies. Mr. Wingate’s forgetfulness, as reported by his son, along with his nightmares and abnormal movements are all symptoms and components of MNDLB. Why did you select this Decision? Support your response with evidence and references tothe Learning Resources. The reason that I decided to diagnose Mr. Wingate with MNDLB is because his presentation and reported symptoms from his son highly resemble characteristics of an individualwith MNDLB. The individual with MNDLB will have memory impairment and issues with alertness and functioning which may fluctuate (McKeith, 2017). Mr. Wingate’s son reported his forgetfulness such as forgetting his way to the store, forgetting food in the oven, forgetting to paybills, and medication compliance. It was also reported that his attention and alertness fluctuate throughout the course of the day and is worse in the evening time. Issues with sleep are common because REM sleep behavior disorder is a coexisting condition with MNDLB (McKeith, 2017). Mr. Wingate reports that he has been having poor sleep for a long time now along with vivid nightmares that involve him yelling out, kicking, and swinging in his sleep. MNDLB is a Parkinson’s related disease which correlates with Mr. Wingate’s abnormal movements and issueswith coordination.
