As youmay have guessed, the sonnet is about love. More specifically, the poem examines therelationship between beauty and love. The poem makes the point that a person is often loved dueto their beauty and no other reason. The poet makes this point through allusions to commonsayings, contrasting words and the poet’s tone toward the subject throughout the poem.The Sonnet’s title in itself is an allusion to a common saying throughout the world. Around theworld, romantics often say that Love is Blind. However the poem’s title, which alludes to thatsaying, says just the opposite. The poem is titled “Love is not blind…”as a contrast to thesaying that Love is blind. This allusion sets up the argument for the poet’s point that people love
