2MOD 7 CRITICAL THINKING EXERCISEFor some to think that change in the workplace is a sign of bad things is quite natural.Change can be scary, daunting, and it removes employees from their comfort zone. But withinthe scope of what people consider changes, some of those changes occur more frequently thanothers. All changes that happen in the workplace happen for a reason and it is important for us tounderstand why is change necessary. Change in the organization leads to many benefits andpositive aspects. Gaining or retaining competitive advantage in the market is one of the mainreasons why change is a necessity for companies. There are also smaller scale benefits that canbe associated with change such as innovation, skill development, and other businessopportunities that provides employee improvement and eventual increase of morale. So, in otherwords, not all change is bad. However, even with a well-planned execution, change inevitablycreates a feeling of unease within the organization. Therefore, it is essential for managers to beable to adapt to the challenges organizational change bring upon their respective departments.Dealing with change is an ongoing challenge for almost every manager. There are somethat are efficient in disseminating information and are able to control the chaos before things getrough. With that said, being able to spot indicators that change is needed is an important skill thatevery manager must have. The good thing about change is that sometimes we can see it coming.There are two contributing forces that indicate change is the most likely solution to the problem,outside and inside forces. According to Kinicki and Williams (2020), external forces consist offour types:1.Demographic Characteristicssuch as age, education, skill level, gender, andimmigration.
