IntroductionMental models are the mostly beliefs and ideas that shows what we do and what we think about.Mental models shows limitations and mental shortcuts. Mental models are usually images thatare deeply held in our brain about how the world works, images that limit us to thin k and workin a familiar. More often, we are not seriously aware of our own mental models and how it affectour behavior. Different people have different mental models, it is the reason why two people canobserve the same occurrence and describe it differently. This show that everyone pays attentionto different details in the occurrence. In a new environment, people are usually drawn to digestand remember only the details that reinforces the mental model that are already there. Mentalmodel therefore restrict the ability of people to change.The relationship of how someone’s overall well-being and how he/she sees the world isgenerally affected by his/her mental model. For instance someone who views the world asconsisting of dangerous and malicious individuals will experience fear and great anxiety,interprets other people’s action as ill intent and may even unknowingly look out for groups withmalicious individualsThere are various mental methods that are affecting my study life as that is taking place as at themoment. It has held me back and still holding me back from excelling in my examination. Theempowering and disempowering mental models that is affecting our life includes anxiety, threatand challenge, comparing myself with fellow students among many others. In this paperI willshare some of the empowering and disempowering mental models that affect my daily life.
