Period 1 2/27/12 Grammar as Rhetoric and Style Packet Essay Prompt #6 In the words of Francine Prose, “Education, after all, is a process intended to produce a product.” In the school district of Palm Beach County, this methodology does not always result in what one might expect. In almost every class, there is a contrasting viewpoint between the teacher, and what he or she believes she should be doing, and what the county-dictated curriculum states he or she must be dong. The educational process has become so beaten and depraved because of the introduction of policies that dictate how and what a teacher must teach. Standardized testing is one of the main causes for this discrepancy. In hundreds of schools over seventy-four districts, somehow the state of Florida thought that creating a test in which every student was “equally prepared” could gauge their ability. In this goal, the state mandated that every class that contained subjects tested in these standardized exams, had to change their entire curriculum in order to include materials that are present in these, said exams.

The ability to access any university’s resources through Course Hero proved invaluable in my case. I was behind on Tulane coursework and actually used UCLA’s materials to help me move forward and get everything together on time.
