SOCSCI 031 BSCE-1 (N3/P6 C1) Contextual Analysis of Sucesos De Las Islas Filipinas of Dr. Antonio Morga One of the most notable works to have been published during the early history of the Spanish colonization was a book written by Dr. Antonio Morga, the Sucesos de Las Islas Filipinas, which contained the history of the Philippine Islands at the time where Spain overruled all systems in the country. What makes the book important in the making of the history of the Philippines is the keen observation and direct participation of the author in the events and how in-depth the contents of the book were. The information found in the book dated between 1493 and 1603, at the time where Morga was assigned as lieutenant general in Manila and then published the book on 1609 when he came back to Spain. The book sparked controversy as it contained information on the political, social, and economic aspects of the Philippines under the rule of Spain.
