Government Vocab + Notes Liberty: having personal freedom and a government whose powers are limited by law. Freedom fro governmental control. Equality: the idea that all individuals should have the same right to participate in political life and society equally. Three debates about equality. 1. Equality of access to public institutions. Having same rights to attend public institutions. 2. Ensuring equality of opportunity in private life. Maintaining equality for everyone to have same opportunity to succeed. 3. Equality concerns about income and wealth. Democracy: placing some political power on the hands of ordinary people. Political Efficacy: the ability to influence government and politics. (Citizens can take action for government to listen to them and affect what they do). Citizenship: Involvement and being informed in political life. Require 3 forms of political knowledge. 1. Knowledge of Government: Understand the regulations and laws under government. 2.
