What is the difference between consumer psychology and marketing communications? Consumer Psychology is the study of how consumers act or feel within their purchasing environment. This includes such things as how a consumer feels, and thinks about maybe a particular item, brand, or company. Consumer Psychology also looks deeper into how a consumer might behave while shopping or their influence to the environment around them. Marketing Communications are different but really relies on Consumer Psychology as these are the promotional messages, strategies, and tactics that are used to get the marketing message to the targeted audience. In my gaming company like many other companies we have our marketing department and within this department we have a team that strictly works on consumer psychology. We want to know long before we go into development of a new game how our consumers will react to a game. Then during research and development this team comes into play again to study how our test subjects are reacting to the game. This gives us a better plan as to where to add what I call
