ENTERPRISE ARCHITECTURE FRAMEWORK Enterprise architecture refers to a framework that is used to analyze, design, plan as well as implement analysis that has been conducted in business making it possible to successfully execute the strategies of the business. Enterprise architecture is most commonly used in businesses to structure their policies and projects on IT to enable the organization to maintain its competitiveness (Nugraha and Handoko, 2019). The Open Group Architecture Framework (TOGAF) refers to an example of an EA framework and one that is widely used by businesses today. The framework seeks to offer organizations a high-level framework that they can use in their software development. It provides a systematic approach that is used to maintain their timelines, reduce errors, align their IT initiative with their business units, and stay on budget as they seek to enhance quality. Since its inception in 1995, the framework has grown to where it has 71 accredited sources which are offered by 70 organizations and eight tools that are certified (White, 2018). TOGAF’s purpose, scope, principles, and structures The TOGAF framework’s main purpose is to offer organizations an enterprise architecture framework and methodology that has been proven to improve business efficiency. It seeks to ensure that there are consistent standards, methods as well as communication among the professionals dealing with enterprise infrastructure (The Open Group, 2020). A look at the scope of TOGAF shows that it has four pillars that cover the architectural domains of the framework. Through these pillars, the framework offers business specialization in terms of business, application, data, and technical architecture.
