L08 AssignmentPart I.Some values expressed in Abraham Lincoln’s “Second Inaugural Address,” were about the war. Lincoln was referred to as Honest Abe and this is because he believed in telling the truthand following the law. During this Inaugural Address, the audience was expecting Lincoln to discuss the victory over the civil war, but instead he gave points on how both sides should come together in unity. Lincoln knew the war was inevitable and had to occur, but he wanted a union after this war, not more division. Lincoln wanted there to be forgiveness and said during his speech, “as God gives us to see the right, let us strive on to finish the work we are in.” He was saying if we do this, we can find peace amongst ourselves and live together in unity. He wanted the people of this country to put their faith into god and let forgiveness into their hearts so that we could get past this war and have equality for all.
