Deviant Exploitation o Four ways of Deviant Exploitation differs from Deviant Exchange The Victim Role (non Deviant Role) Not mutually Profitable The payoff structure benefits the offender and hurts the victim The offender’s game is the victim’s loss Conflicting interests One of the parties wants it to go smoothly all the way through where one party wants the transaction to stop, never happen Hostility and the 5 R’s (things that the victim could do due to the hostility) Resist (the victim resists) Refuse to Cooperate Recruit outside assistance Retaliate Report to authorities o Ways offenders get victims to surrender goods or services Stealth (undetected, sneak in and out) Trickery They know that they are doing it but they think that it is a good idea because they have been told a lie They have been tricked into thinking it is something that it is not Force Physical Non-physical
