FINAL ASSINGMENT2IntroductionThe study of organization behavior gives us an insight on how employees behave and performin the workplace. It helps us develop and understanding of the aspects that can motivateemployees. Organization behavior is the field of study that looks at the impact individuals,groups, and structure have on behavior within the organizations for the purpose of applyingsuch knowledge towards improving organization effectiveness. (Langton, Robbins & Judge,2019) The purpose of this assignment is to analyse a case study and apply different conceptslearned from this course. And evaluate whether the employee behavior is a symptom of a biggerproblem within the organization. The first section will focus on analysing the employee’s workattitudes, the second part will be analysing communication and organizational culture. Finally, Iwill conclude with recommendation on how to prevent similar issues from happening again.Case SummaryPeter joined one of the top four insurance firms in Canada and has quickly advanced into asupervisory role. Many of the firm’s employees are recent graduates that have joined thecompany to earn their designations or gain experience they could then decide to either stay withthe company and advance their careers or leave. Even though Peter had progressed into asupervisor role he was not satisfied with the job and decided to start applying to other jobs.However, being at work while looking for other jobs created and issue for him, since he wouldhave to manage time for interviews. Peter, then decided to tell his team, that they could workfrom home on Fridays, by doing so he would have time for attending interviews. His team didnot question this, even though working from home was unusual in the organization. Peter alsotold his managers that during this time he would be conducting off-site meetings with his clients.This situation continued for several months, until his managers found out the true. Having foundout what was really going on, peter was confronted, and he then explained the reason why hedecided to do what he did. After this incident management was questioning whether this is asingle incident or a symptom of a bigger problem within their organization.
