An Individual (Academic/Career) Development Plan (IDP) is a tool
designed to provide:

A clear statement of a student’ s professional career goals and objectives,

A map for attaining goals that specifies immediate and long-range
developmental needs,

A tool for assessing an individual’s skill set relative to their career goals,

An individually-tailored action plan to develop specific competencies
(knowledge and skills) needed to improve performance in present position or
to prepare for new responsibilities,

A written plan for scheduling your development,

A tool for determining resources needed for student development training,

An agreement between the student and mentor based on funds available to
meet goals and needs of the student.
