Chapter 8 Case Study Question 1 Dawn can deal with these issues by implementing a system to track the inventory, this is the first step that will be needed to manage the inventory. The inventory can be tracked by using planning and scheduling, and then forecasting can be used by identifying demand for each sandwich and ingredient. By doing all this, Dawn will ensure that the correct amount of inventory and freshness of ingredients is maintained. Speed of delivery can be could still be maintained by increasing the number of employees making and delivering the sandwiches. Question 2 The current system is very flawed, especially for its purpose of evaluating the quality of the food. This system makes sense for evaluating the inventory management, but not the food quality. Anyway, a much better system for food quality evaluation would be to gain customer feedback through a survey, with possible incentives offered to encourage customers to give their feedback.
