What I plan to do with the rest of my life Before even taking this course I knew I wanted to go into advertising for my career. I feel like this is one thing I’m great at; not just average. It’s really the only job I could see myself doing. If this hypothetically did not work out I really do not know what other job I would be happy doing. That is the whole reason I switched into the School of Journalism from the Business School. After taking this course it just reiterated that I really have a passion for this career. Before even transferring into the Journalism School I made my four year plan and according to adage.com a majority of media spending was on magazine and newspaper in the past year and I really want to create print ads for magazines so that is a good sign already. Being in advertising you have to be creative. I’ve been scrap-booking since I was in fourth grade and that is the main reason I chose to go into advertising. I just see things in an advertise fashion with my vision and have an eye for what is appealing to others. I’m also good at putting things into appropriate sequences to tell a story. I’ve gotten so much better over the years and love experimenting with new, bright colors, and patterns when I’m trying to create a layout for the page I’m working on. I figured advertising was the closest I was ever going to get to scrap- booking in real life. Also, in high school I was apart of our DECA organization and really took a liking to it. I was named DECA student of the year and Marketing Student of the Year. My senior year we even made our own mini apprentice show and I won that as well. I managed to be the only person in my class never to be fired or lose any project. The most enjoyable parts for me, though, were making all the advertisements for our projects and coming up with new, out of the box ideas to get the word out around school about what we were doing. This was also a big role in why I chose a career in advertising. I know that this can be a demanding, competitive job, but I’m more than ready to dedicate myself to becoming successful at it.
