Theatricality of the image exaggerated twist of body Bernini’s David sculpture does not include the head of Goliath, yet the idea is implied by the gaze of David. In comparison, Michelangelo’s David is self-contained. Bernini’s David seizes a dramatic moment in which David is about to take action. As a result, Bernini’s David is more likely to be located in a larger space which allows the dramatic effect to form to the full extent. (Whereas it doesn’t really matter where Michelangelo’s David is placed because it does not require as much dramatic effect.)
