1Molly Ingeman Challenge of Nursing Course Project Nursing has so many different options. You could become a surgical nurse or work in the emergency room. I chose to take a tour of the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit and experience first hand what it’s like to work there. When I figured out that this was what I would be doing for my course project, I came up with two personal learning objectives. The first one was to determine the positives and negatives of working in a NICU. My second objective was to determine how much the nurses are allowed to do in the NICU. I wasn’t sure if the doctor did most of the things or if the nurses took care of a lot. I have always been interested in the NICU. This was a perfect way for me to really understand what goes on in the NICU. I was given this opportunity through class when Sharon Roznick came to class. I went to the Children’s Hospital in St. Paul. Here, we met in the lobby of the NICU. There were many parents of the babies in here just relaxing and watching television. I
