Scott Donnelly ARCH 170 Section 0110 Spring 2008 Assignment 3 Ordering Strategies The space I chose to examine was the Navy War Memorial/Archives Building that rarely goes unnoticed as dozens of people pass by this place daily. The overall parti used to design this space is centralized as the buildings and structures surrounding the memorial are in proportion to the center circle. From a bird’s eye view, the fountains seem to form the beginnings of a new circle and contour to the shape of the memorial. In addition, the outer buildings are curved, but not to the dimensions of the center circle, and form a semi-circle. If allowed to continue, it appears that the buildings would form a circle ending somewhere in the middle of Pennsylvania Avenue. Furthermore, I believe that this space tends to exhibit a radial parti. Although many things point towards a centralized parti, there are simple structures that lead away from the memorial giving it the effect of a pinwheel. For example, the road that leads away from the space heading
