Chapter 7 EssayI have chosen prompt 7.2, which discusses comedy as a form of art. I will discuss the differencesbetween the many forms of comedy, specifically satire, farce, comedy of character, and parody. The goal of all four forms is to make the audience to smile, but each has their own techniques. First off there is satire, satire usually works by making fun of something the audience is already familiar with. This includes current events in the world or happenings in society. A writer who focuses on satire wants the audience to enjoy the show with a light-hearted note, but also wants to set out a message. Another form of comedy is farce. This form is a more enjoyable form of comedy as it can relate to a larger audience or demographic. It can draw laughter from characters going through an extremely physical and hectic situation. It is not very realistic and therefore is generally lighthearted. The characters are heavily stereotyped to fit into a role and the storylines are almost
