Course: PE 293S-001 Triathlon Training Semester Spring 2007 Course Credit 1 hour credit, lecture/laboratory Day/Time: Class- Tuesdays 6:00pm-6:50pm / January 8 th to May 5 th Pool Time- Tuesdays 7:00pm-8:00pm / January 8 th to May 5 th Location: Room #279, Coliseum Instructor: Nathan R. Prerequisites: None Text: None Required Equipment: * For activity days you will likely need some of the following items: Running shoes, swim goggles, cycling helmet, swimsuit or other proper athletic attire Course Objectives: The objective of this course is to provide a comprehensive overview of the sport of triathlon. The course is designed to be beneficial to beginners and advanced triathletes alike. This course will cover the basic equipment, skills, and knowledge necessary to get started and/or advance one’s skills in the sport of triathlon. The class will consist of both classroom instruction and some physical participation. Expected Learning Outcomes: Upon successful completion of this course: 1. Students will be able to verbally express why they are personally interested in the sport of triathlon. 2. Students will be able to set realistic class/fitness/race goals and create a plan to attain those goals. 3. Students will be able to demonstrate an basic understanding of the concepts of physical and mental training for fitness and performance in the sport of triathlon. 4.
