Le Chatelier’s Principle Purpose: The purpose of experiment 15 is to observe the effects of Le Chatelier’s Principle on a stressed system of reactants and products. Procedure: A. Chromate – Dichromate Equilibrium 1.) Add approximately 3mL of 0.1M K 2 CrO 4 to a test tube. 2.) Add 3-5 drops of 6M H 2 SO 4 . 3.) Mix, record any observations, and answer data question Q.A.1. 4.) Add 10 drops of 6M NaOH 5.) Repeat step 3, answering Q.A.2. 6.) Add 5 drops of 6M H 2 SO 4 . 7.) Repeat step 3, answering question Q.A.3. 8.) Dispose of the waste from Part A into the waste container. B. Weak Acid – Weak Base Equilibrium 1.) Add 3mL DI water to a test tube. 2.) Add 1 drop of methyl red indicator solution. 3.) Mix, record any observations, and answer data question Q.B.1. 4.) Add 2 drops 6M NaOH. 5.) Repeat step 3, answering question Q.B.2. 6.) Add 4 drops of 6M HCl. 7.) Repeat step 3, answering question Q.B.3. 8.)
