NUTRITIONAL SELF ANALYSIS2BMI & HamwiMy weight is 138 lbs and my height is 5’1”. Calculating body weight through the bodymass index (BMI) method takes a person’s height to weight ratio into consideration only. Theformula that I will use for calculating BMI is703 x weight (lbs) / [height (in)]2(CDC, 2020).Based on the outcome, I would be considered overweight. There are limitations to using the BMImethod. This method does not take muscle mass into account (CDC, 2020). I work out 3-4 timesa week through strength and circuit training, therefore I have an athletic build.BMI Formula: 703 x 138lbs / 612= 26.1If we were to calculate using the Hamwi method, we would take 100 lbs for first 5 feet ofheight and add 5 lbs for each inch above 5 feet (NAFWA, 2020). My ideal weight would be105lbs. There are limitations to the HAMWI method as well. Like the BMI method, HAMWIdoes not take body composition into account (Dudek, 2014). If I were 105 lbs, I would be veryskinny, with very little muscle mass.HAMWI Formula: 100lbs (60in) + 5lbs (1 in) = 105lbsFood DiaryThe food diary below is for 3 days: June 30th, July 1st, and July 2nd. My calorie goal is 1590kcal, carbohydrate goal is 199g, protein goal is 80g, fat goal is 53g, sodium goal is 2300mg, andsugar goal is 60g according to Myfitnesspal (2020).
NUTRITIONAL SELF ANALYSIS3Breakfast: I drink coffee upon awakening. I take my multivitamin. Protein pancakes are eaten onthe way to work. My overall mood is neutral as its 6:30 in the morning. I make protein pancakesbecause it gives me a good boost to start my day.Lunch: I ate my salad on my lunch break at a desk. I also sipped on coffee before returning towork. The day is almost over. I chose the salad because I don’t like feeling bloated or sloweddown after meals. I drink coffee throughout the day because I feel that it maintains my energylevels.Dinner: I was tired from working out and knew everything at home would take about an hour tofix, so I stopped at Rubio’s for a bowl. It was delicious but very high in sodium. I also watched adocumentary while eating dinner.
