2 PERSONALITY TEST November 12,2020 Abstract The DISC Personality Test is based off the work of a Harvard Psychologist, Dr. William Moulton Marston in the 1920’s. His theory was that people often develop self- concept based off four factors, dominance, inducement, steadiness or compliance (Harris & Eikenberry, 2019). Which later turned into 4 behavioral personality types Dominate/Direct, Inspiring/Interactive, Cautious/Careful and Supportive/Steady. I took the DISC personality test and it determined that my personality was primarily Careful/Cautious and Dominate/Direct. With this information, I was able to determine how my personality affects others in the workplace. How this would play a role in collaborating with others at the school site. What personality types I may have trouble collaborating with and what can I do to help effective communication. I also compared my personality style with a classmate and analyzed our communication style gives our personality types.
3 PERSONALITY TEST Disc Personality Test The DISC Personality Test is based off the work of a Harvard Psychologist, Dr. William Moulton Marston in the 1920’s. His theory was that people often develop self- concept based off four factors, dominance, inducement, steadiness or compliance (Harris & Eikenberry, 2019). The DISC model is built on understanding two basic drives. Our motor drive (or pace drive) and our compass drive (or priority drive) (Harris & Eikenberry, 2019). The motor drive divides the circle horizontally, with the upper half representing outgoing/fast paced people and the bottom half represents reserved/slow pace people (Harris & Eikenberry, 2019). The compass drive divides the circle vertically, the left side represents task-oriented people and the right side represents people who are people-oriented (Harris & Eikenberry, 2019). When you combine the drawings for the motor drive and compass drive you get the circle of behaviors broken down into four quadrants, this is known as The DISC Model of Human Behavior. It encompasses the four main factors which are now known as (D) Dominant/Direct located in the top left quadrant, (I) Inspiring/Interactive located in the top right quadrant, (C) Cautious/Careful located in the bottom left quadrant, and (S) Supportive/Steady located in the bottom right quadrant (Harris & Eikenberry, 2019). This model is used to understand yourself and others by calculating behavior styles. 80% of people have behavioral style blends, meaning they have a primary and a secondary behavioral style.
