Discussion Board Three The bible teaches us that Sunday should be an occasion to remember the Sabbath day and to keep holy. Exodus 20: 9-10 proclaims that one is “to labor six days and do all [your] work, but the seventh day is a Sabbath to the Lord your God” (New International Version). It is evident, as a Christian based company, that Chick-fil-A is abiding by this demand from God. Although it may not be the most logical decision for the company from a financial standpoint, it makes Chick-fil-A a very respectable company. The decision to close on Sundays provides proof that the company cares more about its employees, their faith, and their families than any potential profit. When comparing Chick-fil-A to other well-known fast food chains, such as McDonalds, we find that even with an eclectic menu, longer breakfast hours, and robotic ordering systems the success of others in the industry is dwindling. According to an article published in The Wall Street Journal , McDonalds reported a revenue of $5.5 billion in its first quarter of 2017, a decline from $5.9 million in the prior year (Jargon, 2017). In comparison, Chick-fil-A profits approximately 3 million dollars a year per each operating store. Many question what attributes to Chick-fil-A’s overwhelming success.
