History 190 Andrew Goble Tian Xie November 10, 2010 Question: Who was Genghis khan? What was his background? What was his legacy? Genghis Khan was the founder of the Mongol Empire which became the largest contiguous empire in history. His father let him married a powerful Mongol leader’s daughter. His father’s followers were drifted away because of his father’s death and also he is too young. He got into cage in a camp of rival in 1182 but escaped and began to revenge. Then he subdued the Tatars, Kereyids, Naimans, Merkids, and many other tribes. Finally, he created the Mongol Empire and proclaimed the Great Khan.
