James Strine Professor Garcia March 2, 2020 Social Inequalities Gender Inequality in Sports Gender equality (particularly in education and sports) has continually been an extremely contentious topic. Yet the man who established the contemporary Olympic Games (Lord Pierre de Coubertin ), told at the end of the nineteenth century that “ Regardless how toughened the female sportsperson might be, This system of the female is not formed to maintain particular shocks. ” the US women’s Sports education reports that male athletes are getting some $ 180 million more yearly in athletic scholarship grants than female athletes do. On top of that are colleges spending just 24% their overall athletic transactions budgets on feminine sports actions. Additionally, the college and universities pay only 16% of their recruiting budgets and only around 30% of their education and award budgets on female sports. One might argue that this is how it should be because sports like college football brings in tons of money, but equality means equal treatment for all and the school should be distributing the amount of money equally.
