4/30/07 Kebyar tradition Kreasi Baru “Gadung kasturi” –intertwining flowers    I Nyoman windha – composer, famous gamelon player in Bali Gamelon Balinese parts  1) pengwit (head) – unmeter 2) pengawak (body) – regular meter 3) pengecet (foot) – 16 to 18 beats, usually unmeter     altogether 20 minutes long Semar pegulinan – another gamelon piece -court gamelon -means love of God -played inside king’s chamber in courtyard 1. “Tabuh Gasi” (it’s a song) – gending -played outside king’s chamber 2. Barong (it’s a song) -mythical (heroic) beast -calonarang –demon witch (fights against Barong),  + E @ village 6 + Barong -religious ritual (healing bad vibration in village) 1. Kroncong – instrument: 5 stringed guitar-like but higher pitched, it’s also name of music -considered as old music -influenced by gamelon -it’s Indonesian pop music
