Compare and Contrast Analysis Essay A popular article is an article meant to entertain the general public. Popular articles usually have embrace many characteristics such as, often easy to read and and comprehend, entertaining pictures, written by authors who are not experts on the subject, usually used as an instrument to have consumer advertisements displayed, and most often lack of references that are as credible of those of a scholarly article. Examples of magazines with popular articles include Sports Illustrated, Time, and Newsweek. Most popular articles are sold in major stores or news stands. A scholarly article is one which is composed of different characteristics than one of a popular article. scholarly article are written by experts or professionals on the subject, accompanied with multiple credible references, show formal and technical styles of writing, and most of all published by a university or association. Examples of journals with scholarly articles include Journal of American History, Journal of Geophysical Research, and American Business Law Journal. Most scholarly articles are found in university libraries. For the purpose of this essay I will be comparing and contrasting a popular article to a scholarly article in attempt to distinguish the overall effectiveness in which they have on their audience. The topic in which will be used to base my research off of is the Iraqi War. My main focus is to visit to different candidates websites that have been established for the 2008 election and also compare and contrast the credibility, use of evidence, and organization of their websites and on the topic of the Iraqi War.

Researching for a popular source I found to be much more easier than when researching for an scholarly article. The popular article that I chose to use to further my research was The Reach of War; Devastating Criticism by Both Parties. This popular article was straight to the point and not too lengthy. I found it to be more aimed to an overall audience rather than a specific audience. It seemed as though anyone could follow what was being said. The word choice and flow of the article made it easy to read. Not only that but there are pictures and more distractions on this particular article. Though the popularly article was somewhat informational, it did not provide enough information or further expand on topics that would help further my research. When searching for a scholarly article there were many aspects that I had to be aware of. First off, making sure that it
