Pintauro: The United States, at this point in time, should not take any military action against Iran because the U.S. does not have the social and moral support of its own people. After 9/11, the country and its legislatures were, for the majority, in support of a military response and therefore, the country was able to pursuit such a course. Nietzsche and Mill, however, would be in favor of a strike on nuclear facilities in Iran. Nietzsche is right in the sense when he says that there is value in having enemies, but perhaps for the wrong reasons. The value is not exclusive to enemies, but also to any counter or opposite of anything. It is similar to two companies in the same business competing against each other. The two companies “fight” against each other to stay in business (alive). It is also similar to political parties “struggling” against each other to “win” an election.
