What is ABA? What is ABA? Brady Mallek Capella University
What is ABA? This week’s assignment focuses on determining if Using Token Reinforcement to Increase Walking for Adults with Intellectual Disabilities or The Relationship Between Intentional Self-Injurious Behavior and the Loudness Dependence of Auditory Evoked Potential in Research Volunteers is utilizing the seven dimensions of applied behavioral analysis. The seven dimensions of applied behavioral analysis are applied, behavioral, analytic, technological, conceptually systematic, effective, and generality (Baer, Wolf, & Risley, 1968). The seven dimensions of applied behavioral analysis developed by Donald Baer, Montrose Wolf, and Todd Risley. These three men developed each dimension to explain if articles, journals, and other resources are behaviorally analytic. After reading and analyzing both articles, Using Token Reinforcement to Increase Walking for Adults with Intellectual Disabilities or The Relationship Between Intentional Self-Injurious Behavior is behavior analytic because all seven dimensions of applied behavioral analysis were utilized. Applied focuses on improving behavior that empowers clients to improve social skills, language, academic knowledge, vocational skills, and leisure activities (Cooper, Heron, & Heward, 2019, p.1). In the article, applied is being used because it aims to increase social skills and improve leisure activities (walking). By increasing walking habits of adults with intellectual disabilities will allow the adults to remain focused on the walking because they will receive their token (pop, candy, alone time).
