In thearticle byKesselheim,Avorn, &Sarpatwari, they note that U.S spends more onprescription drugs per capita compared to all other countries: $858 on the average, comparedwith an average of $400 for 19 other industrialized nations” (2016). Past and present of the U.S.have made the agenda to reduce the prescription drug cost a priority; they addressed the agendadifferently by working with U.S Congress to enact laws and by issuing Executive orders toaddress the problem. As noted in the article by Bunis Dena of AARP (2019), an average of 28percent of pre-Medicare-age adults state that they do not use their medications as prescribed dueto the high cost of the medications.
