Psychological egoism on the other hand, explains how things are, and is true to certain extends. It also cannot be proven wrong. There always seems to be a justified explanation for every action that we perform every day. For instance, in heated arguments, the people may refrain from using violence. These individuals may think about the consequences that may happen if they did resort to hurting others: it might embarrass their family, or they might to go to jail, or it might simply keep them up at night for harming others. Whatever the reasons, selfish or not as we often justify, ethical egoism explains that it is the human’s selfishness that drives us to do what we do that benefits us best.
