Covering the Uninsured in the United States This research question is one of the most important problems facing our country right now. Especially in the 21 st century, as healthcare costs have been rising dramatically, America needs to find a new way to make sure that as many people as possible are insured. Currently, 47 million Americans, or 18% of the adult population don’t have health insurance, which is abominably high. Other industrialized nations, such as the UK or Canada, guarantee universal health coverage for their citizens, which has been shown to work for them. For many people, there are legitimate reasons for not purchasing health insurance, which means that there is a problem with the American health system. Some say that health care is too expensive, and they don’t value it as much as the cost. Especially with high deductibles and premiums, the cost can definitely be a burden. Others say that there
