Ankur Gupta Professor Marconi PWR 1 2 November 2004 Outline for Francesca’s Paper Synopsis : In the introduction, the author prepares the context which she will analyze: the placement of blame in malpractice cases. The first body paragraph introduces Wachter and Shojania’s Internal Bleeding and their stance on malpractice fault while indicating that we need to investigate a non-biased source as well to get the full picture. She then introduces the article from The Lancet and justifies its credibility and impartiality. In her next paragraph she finally introduces a thesis where she states that both excerpts deal with apportioning more blame to the blunt end of the system. Continuing on, she identifies the specific problem of the blunt end’s latent failures and follows it with both articles perspectives on the issue. The focus then shifts to both excerpts’ proposed solutions to the problem which is promptly followed by an effective conclusion stating that aside from the authors’ differences, the one thing they have in common is a need for
