Paul Salgado #001535837WGU DPM2 TASK 2 State Standard : ccsd-curriculum-overview-3-5-english-2011-2012.pdfDESCRIPTIONThe teacher that I interviewed was Mrs. Flores a 4thgrade teacher at Wing & Lily Fong Elementary in Las Vegas, Nevada. She teaches using the Core Curriculum. She feels that the standards set by the Core Curriculum are exceptional and teaches strictly by them. She feels like a few areas are maybe a little too advanced for the age group, like the social studies area that they have recently introduced. She does not teach math at all. She teaches a racially diverse classroom with a size of about 28 kids. She feels like the smaller class size allows for her to havemore one on one interaction with the students, giving them the attention that they need to help them with the curriculum. At Fong Elementary they have programs for English language learnersas well as special education students. For advanced students they have the G.A.T.E program. Having these subgroups allows for students with special needs resources and aid they might needto learn, as well as highlighting and challenging students who may be advanced. Mrs. Flores would describe her teaching style as one that is more intimate. She feels that it is important to build a personal bond with each student. She tries her best to make learning exciting for children
