Running head: DISC SURVEY INTRUMENT: DETERMENING YOUR COMMUNICATION STYLES 1National University ABA 610 Sonia Hurtado9/21/20
DISC SURVEY INSTRUMENT 2Disc Survey Instruments: Determining Your Communication Styles Introduction Based on the DISC Survey, my communication style is S and C. I am a blend of both supportive and cautious traits. However, based on the results, my supportive traits are stronger than my cautious traits. Based on the results, some words that describe the communication style that I fall under are helpful, kind, logical, and methodical ("DiSC Profile - What is DiSC®? The DiSC personality test and profile explained", 2020). The results also suggest that I am more reserved than outgoing. This reflects my introverted personality. I prefer interacting with people one-on-one or in a small group rather than larger crowds. Moreover, I tend to usually interact with people I already know versus meeting new people. Although, I am also able to meet and speak with new people without any issues if it is required to do so. My DISC results also suggest that I like to do things following a known or proven pattern, which is very true as I like to plan my day to day and know things ahead of time. Lastly, something that also is very true after reviewing my results, is that I usually tend to focus on preserving relationships and peace and harmony. On the other hand, when reading about 4 communication types I gravitated towards being a “personal communicator that values emotional language and connection and uses that as a mode to discover what others are really thinking” (Murphy, 2020). This communication type goes hand in hand with my supportive communication style from the DISC assessment in that for me it is very important to know how others feel and having and emotional connection and language is very important to me.
DISC SURVEY INSTRUMENT 3How This Affects Peers at Work Having a S/C personality can have its pros and its cons when dealing with peers at work.
